Reopening Protocol and Safety Measures

The safety of AIC members, coaches and staff will always be our top priority. Starting Feb 1st 2021, in going from 10 fencers to 36, we will be implementing the following protocols, which are intended to protect people participating in these activities.


Fencer’s Responsibilities:

If you show or think you show any COVID-19 related symptoms, please do not come to the club and if you have been at the club please contact the club so that we may follow up.


Before arriving at AIC FENCING please make sure:

  • Wash your hands with hand sanitizer before and after entering the club.

  • Complete a non-contact infrared temperature check prior to entering club.

  • Arrive no more than 20 minutes prior to your scheduled lesson, class or bouting session.

  • If the fencer arrives early, he or she must wait outside the building.

  • Mask must be worn. Social distance must be kept.

  • Leave bags in the designated areas only.

  • Use of your own fencing equipment at practice. Wear only clean fencing uniforms and sanitize fencing masks, and please take it home with you and wash it frequently.


Staff and Coaches’ Responsibilities:

  • Enforce all safety protocols, including wearing masks at all times.

  • One staff member or coach will have the daily responsibility of supervising the cleaning, disinfecting and maintaining of social distance in the club.

  • Wipe down coaching equipment daily.

  • Clean and disinfect high-touch areas and surfaces on a frequent basis.


General Protocol:

  • No walk-ins will be accepted.

  • Do not come to the club if you have any symptoms consistent with COVID-19 or have been in direct contact with somebody who has tested positively.

  • Facial masks must be worn at all times while in the club except when drinking water from your own water bottle.

  • Masks with valves or vents are not advisable.

  • Practice social distancing by keeping 6 feet away from others.

  • Hand sanitizer will be placed around AIC Club. All fencers, coaches and staff members should use sanitizer frequently and wash hands as often as possible.

  • Only the water dispenser function of the water fountain will be available. We advise that fencers and coaches bring their own beverage of choice which is not be shared except between family members.

  • Screaming is not permitted, in accordance with USA Fencing and FIE guidelines.


Safety measures:

  • No handshakes, fist bumps or hugs. After lessons or bouts, please conclude by going to the en guard line and saluting.

  • Leave promptly after your lesson, class, or bouting session.

  • We are professionally cleaning the club 7 days per week. In addition, staff and coaches will sanitize the club.

Please continue to practice proper hygiene and respiratory etiquette both at and away from AIC Club:

  • Wash your hands often and wear a mask at all times.

  • Cover your sneeze or cough with a tissue and put the refuse in the garbage can.

  • Practice social distancing.
