THANK YOU

“Hope is being able to see that there is light despite all of the darkness”

- Desmond Tutu

We are currently living through a time filled with much uncertainty. The past year and the past fencing season have been one that none of us could have ever imagined. For many, the word “unprecedented” has been heard too many times, as we are continuously caught off guard with unexpected twists and turns. However, it is during times like these where we must come together as a community, and look out for one another.

AIC Fencing would like to express its gratitude to all the fencers, friends, and families that joined us for our Saturday Night Foil Open Bouting fundraiser event on October 3rd. We are grateful for our fencers, who persevere and continue to train, undeterred by the struggles of mask-wearing. We are grateful for those fencers that are not part of AIC but joined us for this event in the midst of the pandemic. We are grateful for all the families that ceaselessly support their fencers. We are incredibly fortunate that our fencers and staff have remained healthy through the course of this pandemic and hope that those around us remain safe as well. AIC is proud to announce that in total, we have raised  $1,188, all of which will go directly to the Virginia Hospital Center Foundation. As a club centered around community, inclusivity, and love, we hope that these donations reflect our core values, and can be used to provide healthcare to those less fortunate. We acknowledge that our contribution may not have a huge impact, but we are more than proud of everyone that came together, united by a love for fencing, to help make an impact.

As a club, we encourage everyone to look out for their community, and to spread love in times where people are bitterly divided. We hope that everyone stays healthy and safe. Together, we will find the light in the dark.
